Kelbly’s History
In 1969, Ralph Stolle, an active benchrest competitor, designed and built an unlimited steel action that he called the Stolle Grizzly. It was a round action, over 14 inches in length, 1.700″ in diameter, with a blued finish. He built somewhere between 25 and 30 of them, mostly for unlimited bag guns. In 1970-71, Stolle manufactured the first aluminum Panda action, which was 11.5″ inches in length with a long barrel thread area. Stolle suffered a heart attack in 1979, and moved to North Lawrence a year later. In 1981 he produced his first actions at Kelbly’s facility with George E. Kelbly Sr. Ralph Stolle passed away in September 1982. In November 1982 Jim Kelbly was hired in with George E. Kelbly Jr. coming aboard in 1986 and Mike Kelbly in 1991. In 2012 George Sr. retired and sold company to his three sons and Kelbly’s Inc. now has 13 employees including Ian and Ryan Kelbly, both Jim’s sons.
Production has come along way since. Today, Kelbly’s is averaging over 1200 actions yearly with 30% sold to overseas customers. And complete rifles are now over 200 a year. Kelbly’s Inc. is always updating and advancing our product line with new rifle actions and rifles.

Description:
American Precision Arms is very excited to share the release of the Generation 3 Little Bastard. It has been a long time coming but we wanted to make sure everything was perfect before offering something new.
The development of APA Gen 3 Little Bastard was the result of American Precision Arms’ constant pursuit of breaking the mold and a desire to meet the demands of the Long-Range and Hunting markets. APA has combined the standards of high-level performance and reliability with distinctive design enhancements to improve both accuracy and performance. These enhancements benefit the shooter experience at the range and in the field where every advantage matters.
The roots of the new Generation 3 version of the Little Bastard lie in the requests of the elite long-range precision rifle community. APA’s goal was to meet the needs of those shooters while also maintaining their standards of pristine manufacturing. Among the design, changes are three key features. The advanced Unique Recoil Profile tunable top port design allows the shooter to fine-tune the muzzle movement for absolute target retention. In addition to that, the new lock nut design creates a zero over rotating platform. Last is the addition of a fourth Bastard port section that eliminates even more recoil than before.
NOT JUST STOPING RECOIL, BUT LATERAL MOVEMENT AND MUZZLE RISE AS WELL, FOR A TRULY NEUTRAL SIGHT PICTURE.
URP (Unique Recoil Profile) Top Ports
This allows the shooter to not only combat direct recoil but muzzle rise and lateral movement based on the characteristics of their rifle, personal grip, stance and the position they are shooting from.We developed the U.R.P. Adjustable Gas System. These aren’t just randomly placed top ports. Every port is placed adjacent to the internal Bastard tooth where there is maximum pressure build-up. This makes the adjustable ports directionally effective.
The unique tunable gas system combined with the trademark APA ports work together to achieve a sight picture that moves less than ever before. There are 8 directional gas ports that can be tuned to counteract you’re U.R.P. (unique recoil profile).
There are 256 combinations to keep your sights on target. To calibrate the brake to your U.R.P., start testing with all the gas screws installed. Pay attention to the movement of your reticle, and begin removing the gas screws as the recoil requires.
When the gas screws are removed on the right side, the rifle will be shifted left. For the opposite effect simply remove the screws on the left. The gas holes closer to the nut have a more dramatic effect and the ports closer to the brake crown have a lesser effect. When you find your U.R.P. combination, Threadtite your screws into place.
